Other destinations for paddling in the southern hemisphere with good rivers are PERU and CHILE.
Pucón, in CHILE, is a small adventure town surrounded by stunning scenery of lakes, mountains and rivers. It has many nearby whitewater rivers that are frequently used for rafting and kayaking.
Further south, the Futaleufú River, located in northern Patagonia, is a must for those who enjoy high-flow rivers of class 3 or higher.
For the more adventurous, you can also try the Greater Patagonian Trail.
In PERU, the Apurímac is one of the world's classic rivers. Those who attempt it should feel comfortable paddling on demanding class 4 rivers.
In INDIA, the Ganges River is another option for packrafting adventurers.
Closer to Europe, MOROCCO (packraft Morocco), GALICIA (Packrafting Galicia) and PORTUGAL (for example, the legendary Paiva River) are good packrafting destinations between January and March.
They are not as warm as the previous ones, but they are much more accessible for those living in Europe.
In Morocco, head to the Ahansal River in the High Atlas Mountains. You can contact River Guru, who organise expeditions to the Ahansal River every year, or keep an eye on our community to see if we return with Packrafting.cat one day.
